Area Guides

We chose this area of West London to open Sargeants because it’s one we know and love. With plenty of character, a broad range of property styles and sizes, and a real community feel in each of the different areas within it, we’ve no hesitation in recommending it as a great place to live.

Here we have provided an overview of each of the main areas we cover – Hanwell, Ealing Broadway, Northfields, West Ealing, Ealing Common and Brentford. We outline the history and character of these areas, and the things that make them particularly desirable, and give you some of the key statistics to help you understand the local property market a little better.

We also list some of our own favourite spots, from coffee shops, bars and restaurants to parks and even opticians. These are places that we’ve road-tested and are happy to recommend as genuine local gems.

Hanwell Area Guide

Hanwell is the home of the famous Marshall Amp, but it’s appeal goes far beyond its place in music history, with the perfect blend of property from affordable starter homes to the grand detached villas.

Ealing Broadway Area Guide

Ealing Broadway is buzzing with life. Known as the ‘Queen of the Suburbs’ since Victorian times it still maintains that mix of busy city life and green space in which to relax.

Northfields Area Guide

On the outskirts of Ealing, Northfields offers a peaceful residential area, just a stone’s throw from the bustle of the Broadway. It has a real village feel, a range of independent businesses and outstanding schools.

West Ealing Area Guide

West Ealing has received significant investment, with new developments alongside the period homes. It is also a cosmopolitan cultural melting-pot, with an array of Turkish, Polish, Indian, Italian and Thai restaurants.

Ealing Common Area Guide

The wide open spaces and grand architecture of Ealing Common is one of London’s gems, while the common itself plays host to a variety of events including sport, concerts, circuses and festivals.

Brentford Area Guide

If you want riverside living without the eye-watering prices, then Brentford is a real contender, and period houses have been complemented in recent years by new apartments along the water’s edge.
