Hanwell Area Guide

Hanwell is the home of the famous Marshall Amp, developed by Jim Marshall and his son Terry, and sold from their music shop on Uxbridge Road. But Hanwell’s appeal goes far beyond its place in music history, with the perfect blend of property from affordable starter homes of the Cuckoo conservation area through to the grand detached homes of Golden Manor.

It’s the perfect area for growing families, with great schools including St Marks and, Hobbayne primary schools, and Drayton Manor and Elthorne High Schools, both rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. There’s real community here, with annual events such as the Hanwell Hootie, which not only celebrates the rich musical history here, but showcases local food and drink – and we’re proud to be a sponsor.

Neighbourhood spirit has always been a feature – the clock tower was erected by residents to commemorate the coronation of King George VI. There’s more history too, with the Warncliffe Viaduct designed by Brunel, and the beautiful Flight of Locks. The Grade II listed station has been refurbished and is now served by Crossrail, linking the past to the future, and Hanwell speedily to the rest of London and Heathrow Airport, Hanwell really has it all.
